Construction Status

The West Jordan Utah Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.


Temple Rendering

An official rendering of the West Jordan Utah Temple has not yet been released to the public.


Temple Site

On April 22, 2024, the location of the West Jordan Utah Temple was announced as a 16.1-acre site located west of Highway 111 at approximately 7148 South. Plans call for a multi-story temple of approximately 85,000 square feet and a new meetinghouse.1


Temple Announcement

On April 7, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the West Jordan Utah Temple at the 194th Annual General Conference. It is the 29th temple announced for Utah. West Jordan is a suburb of Salt Lake City, located on the southwest side of the Salt Lake Valley. At the time of the announcement, the Salt Lake Temple and Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple were under renovation, and the Manti Utah Temple was scheduled to be rededicated two weeks later. Temples in operation included the Bountiful Utah Temple, Brigham City Utah Temple, Cedar City Utah Temple, Draper Utah Temple, Jordan River Utah Temple, Logan Utah Temple, Monticello Utah Temple, Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple, Ogden Utah Temple, Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple, Orem Utah Temple, Payson Utah Temple, Provo City Center Temple, Red Cliffs Utah Temple, St. George Utah Temple, Saratoga Springs Utah Temple, and Vernal Utah Temple. New temples under construction in the state included the Deseret Peak Utah Temple, Ephraim Utah Temple, Heber Valley Utah Temple, Lindon Utah Temple, Smithfield Utah Temple, and Syracuse Utah Temple. The Taylorsville Utah Temple and Layton Utah Temple were completed and preparing for open houses.2
