Vancouver British Columbia Temple Joins List of Temporary Closures
The Vancouver British Columbia Temple has become Canada's first temporary temple closure by the Church in response to concern over transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Vancouver is located about 140 miles (230 km) north of Seattle, Washington, where the most coronavirus cases in the United States has been reported. Closure of the Seattle Washington Temple occurred on Saturday.
131st Operating Temple Dedicated in Vancouver, British Columbia
On Sunday, May 2, President Thomas S. Monson dedicated the Vancouver British Columbia Temple—the province's first temple. The dedication follows an evening of music and dance at the Youth Cultural Celebration held at the Langley Event Center.

With scaffolding down, the Vancouver British Columbia Temple in Langley appears nearly finished with its shiny granite exterior and breathtaking stained glass windows. Landscaping is also nearly completed including an enchanting wooded area. Work is now focused largely on the interior.

At the Vancouver British Columbia Temple construction site, installation of the exterior stone is nearly completed. The remaining area is located at the base of the spire. The meetinghouse and temple president residence are also nearing completion.

Stone Facing on Vancouver Temple Nears Completion
Newly posted photographs of the Vancouver British Columbia Temple shows the progress of the exterior stone, which has reached the height of the temple on both sides, leaving mostly the steeple to complete. Beautiful stained glass windows have also been installed. The adjoining meetinghouse is nearing completion.
Angel Moroni Installed in Langley
On March 10, 2009, the single spire of the Vancouver British Columbia Temple was installed followed by the traditional gold-leafed statue of the angel Moroni. Construction of the temple is about two-thirds complete. The temple will likely be finished early next year. No open house or dedication dates have yet been announced.
