Temple Announcement

On October 6, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Queen Creek Arizona Temple at the 194th Semiannual General Conference. The temple is the eighth announced for Arizona. There are nearly 443,000 Latter-day Saints in the state in around 925 congregations. The first Church members arrived in Arizona in the winter of 1846. Other temples in the state include the Gilbert Arizona Temple, Mesa Arizona Temple, Phoenix Arizona Temple, Snowflake Arizona Temple, The Gila Valley Arizona Temple, Tucson Arizona Temple, and Yuma Arizona Temple. Queen Creek, known originally as "Rittenhouse," was settled by early Arizona homesteaders. Queen Creek was incorporated in 1989 and is in the far southeast of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. There are more than 80,000 residents in the Queen Creek area.1
