The Osaka Japan Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.
Temple Rendering
On September 8, 2025, the official exterior rendering for the Osaka Japan Temple was released to the public.1
Temple Site
On March 4, 2024, the location for the Osaka Japan Temple was announced as a 16.74-acre site located at 3-50-1 Sugi, Hirakata City in the Osaka prefecture of Japan. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 29,630 square feet.2
Temple Announcement
On October 1, 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Osaka Japan Temple at the October 2023 General Conference. It will be the fifth temple in Japan. Osaka is a large port city located in the heart of the main island of Honshu with a metropolitan area population of 19 million people. At the time of the announcement, there were more than 130,000 Latter-day Saints in Japan in about 230 congregations. The three dedicated temples were the Fukuoka Japan Temple, Sapporo Japan Temple, and Tokyo Japan Temple. The Okinawa Japan Temple was slated for dedication by Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Sunday, November 12, 2023.3
