Groundbreaking services for the Jacksonville Florida Temple will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Elder Massimo De Feo, First Counselor in the United States Southeast Area Presidency, will preside. Attendance at the temple site will be by invitation, but the proceedings will be live streamed for all who wish to participate online. The 29,000-square-foot temple will be constructed at 3323 Loretto Road in Jacksonville.1
Temple Rendering
On December 16, 2024, an exterior rendering of the Jacksonville Florida Temple was released to the public.2
Temple Site
On February 20, 2024, the location for the Jacksonville Florida Temple was announced as a 6.6-acre property located at 3323 Loretto Road in Jacksonville. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 29,000 square feet.3
Temple Announcement
On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Jacksonville Florida Temple at the October 2022 General Conference. The temple will be the fifth in the state. There are more than 160,000 Latter-day Saints and more than 280 congregations in Florida. Jacksonville is located in the northeastern portion of the state. Other temples in the state at the time of the announcement included the Orlando Florida Temple, Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, Tallahassee Florida Temple (under construction) and Tampa Florida Temple (announced).4
