Groundbreaking Ceremony

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tampa Florida Temple on Saturday, August 23, 2025. "We ask that Thou might bless this land and this sacred house once constructed, that it might be a light and strength to the Latter-day Saints and to all the community," prayed Elder Andersen in his site dedicatory prayer. "Let our friends and neighbors feel Thy Spirit and increase their faith in Thy Son as they sense what has come to this place."1


Temple Rendering

On March 20, 2023, an exterior rendering of the Tampa Florida Temple was released to the public.2


Temple Site

On April 22, 2024, a new location for the Tampa Florida Temple was announced as a 12-acre site located at 9445 Camden Fields Parkway, Riverview, Florida. The single-story temple will be approximately 29,000 square feet.3 The previous location for the temple was announced on October 31, 2022, as a 16.2-acre site adjacent to an existing meetinghouse at 4806 Bell Shoals Road in Valrico.4


Temple Announcement

On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Tampa Florida Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. Located in Central Florida, the Tampa Florida Temple will be the state’s fourth. There are more than 160,000 Latter-day Saints and some 260 congregations in the state. Other temples in operation or under construction at the time of the announcement were the Orlando Florida Temple, Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, and Tallahassee Florida Temple.5
