Temple Announcement
On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Tacoma Washington Temple at the October 2022 General Conference. It is the fifth temple announced for the state of Washington, situated in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Missionaries first arrived in Washington in 1854. Today, the state is home to more than 280,000 Latter-day Saints in nearly 525 congregations. Other temples in the state at the time of the announcement included the Columbia River Washington Temple, Moses Lake Washington Temple, Seattle Washington Temple, and Spokane Washington Temple.1
