The Greenville South Carolina Temple Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.
Temple Rendering
On May 27, 2026, the official rendering of the Greenville South Carolina Temple Temple was published. The rendering depicted a building with classical architectural elements, including a pedimented entrance supported by columns and an ornamented steeple with a white tower body and metal-clad spire.
Temple Site
On May 26, 2026, the site location for the Greenville South Carolina Temple was announced as a 8.8-acre property located south of the intersection of Independence Boulevard/Ponders Road and Roper Mountain Road in Greenville. Plans call for an 18,850-square-foot, single-story temple.1
Temple Announcement
On April 6, 2025, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Greenville South Carolina Temple Temple at the 195th Annual General Conference. It will be the second house of the Lord in the state. The Columbia South Carolina Temple has been in operation since October 1999. Greenville, found in the northwestern part of South Carolina, is home to nearly 75,000 residents. South Carolina is home to nearly 46,000 Latter-day Saints in approximately 85 congregations.2
