Construction Status

The Cusco Peru Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.

Renderings of the Cusco Peru Temple and site plan have not yet been publicly released.


Temple Site

On January 29, 2024, the location of the Cusco Peru Temple was announced as a 2.48-acre site located at Avenida Arcopata 452 in Cusco. Plans call for a building of approximately 9,950 square feet.1


Temple Announcement

On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Cusco Peru Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. The temple will be the fifth temple in Peru. The country is home to approximately 625,000 Latter-day Saints spread throughout more than 775 congregations. Cusco is in the southeastern part of the country and was the capital of the Inca Empire. The first missionaries arrived in the country in 1956. More than 32 million people live in Peru. Other temples in operation or under construction at the time of the announcement included the Arequipa Peru Temple, Lima Peru Temple, Trujillo Peru Temple, and Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple.2
