Construction Status

The Hamburg Germany Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.


Temple Rendering

An official rendering of the Hamburg Germany Temple has not yet been released to the public.


Temple Site

On June 15, 2026, the location for the Hamburg Germany Temple was announced as the 1.4-acre site where the meetinghouse for the Hamburg Ward is located at Wartenau 20 in Hamburg.1


Temple Announcement

On April 2, 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Hamburg Germany Temple at the April 2023 General Conference. It will be the third House of the Lord constructed in Germany. Hamburg is about 175 miles northwest of Berlin. Other temples in the country include the Frankfurt Germany Temple and the Freiberg Germany Temple. The country was home to nearly 40,000 Latter-day Saints in about 150 congregations at the time of the announcement.2


Temple Facts

The Hamburg Germany Temple will be the first temple built in Germany since its reunification. The Freiberg Germany Temple was dedicated in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), and the Frankfurt Germany Temple was dedicated in the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany).
