Temple Reopenings Announced for August 24

On August 24, 2020, eight more temples located throughout Latin America will begin Phase 1 of reopening for a total of 138 reopened temples. Nineteen temples will begin Phase 2 of reopening for a total of 48 temples in Phase 2. All living ordinances are available under Phase 2 on a priority basis: first, for those being sealed; next, endowments for in-field missionaries; and finally, soon-to-be-departing missionaries.

President Nelson Dedicates the Concepción Chile Temple

As the culminating event of his South America Ministry and Temple Dedication Tour, President Russell M. Nelson dedicated the Concepción Chile Temple today as the 160th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the second temple to be constructed in the nation of Chile.

Open House Concludes at Concepción Chile Temple

Today was the final day of the public open house for the Concepción Chile Temple. Over the next two weeks, the temple will be cleaned and prepared for dedication. President Russell M. Nelson will preside at the dedicatory services as part of his South America Ministry and Temple Dedication tour where he will visit five South American countries.

Final Week of Open House Tours in Concepción

Public tours of the exquisite Concepción Chile Temple will conclude this Saturday, October 13, 2018. If you were unable to attend the open house in person, take this virtual tour of the interior. When the temple is dedicated at the end of this month, it will be the 160th operating temple of the Church.

President Nelson to Dedicate the Concepción Chile Temple

At a stake conference held for the Antofagasta Chile Stake on September 23, 2018, Elder D. Todd Christofferson confirmed that President Russell M. Nelson will preside at the dedicatory services for the Concepción Chile Temple. He will be the first president of the Church to visit the city of Concepción (or any Chilean city outside of Santiago).

Public Open House Begins at the Concepción Chile Temple

The open house for the Concepción Chile Temple begins today with free tours being offered to the public through Saturday, October 13, 2018. The temple is the second to be constructed in the nation of Chile. The dedication of the temple will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018.

The Concepción Chile Temple Opens to the Public

Church headquarters has released its official photographs of the newly completed Concepción Chile Temple in conjunction with the start of the public open house running from Saturday, September 15 through Saturday, October 13, 2018. Those who have watched the temple's construction for the past three years are eager to tour the interior of the sacred structure.

One Month to the Concepción Chile Temple Open House

Free tickets are available for the Concepción Chile Temple open house, beginning in just one month on Saturday, September 15, and continuing through Saturday, October 13, 2018. Construction of the temple began three years ago with a groundbreaking ceremony held on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

Concepción Chile Temple Open House and Dedication Dates

The First Presidency has announced that the Concepción Chile Temple public open house will be held Saturday, September 15, through Saturday, October 13, 2018. A dedication will follow on Sunday, October 28, in three sessions. A special youth devotional will be held the evening before.

Numerous plastic-wrapped lamp posts are dotting the grounds of the Concepción Chile Temple among newly planted and more established trees. Finish work progresses steadily on the interior, and area Saints look forward to the future raising of the angel Moroni atop the domed steeple.

Curbing and Parking at the Concepción Chile Temple

As installers finalize the precast stone cladding at the Concepción Chile Temple, concrete crews are pouring curbing and parking surfaces around the building. Inside, craftsmen are installing ornate woodwork including crown moldings, window trims, door casings, and wainscoting.

Advancements Made at the Concepción Chile Temple

Freshly planted trees and shrubs and newly installed lamp posts and bollards are among the recent additions to the grounds of the Concepción Chile Temple. Precast stone cladding around the east entrance to the building is nearing completion and window glazing bars have appeared in the steeple.

Floodlighting Illuminates Concepción Temple Tower

Exterior floodlighting at the Concepción Chile Temple lit the building's distinguished tower on Sunday night. The angel Moroni statue is on site awaiting installation. Exterior cladding has been completed on the west side of the temple, leaving just the east central wall to be covered in stone.

Interior and Exterior Progress at the Concepción Chile Temple

While precast stone cladding in nearing completion on the west side of the Concepción Chile Temple, crews are making progress on the interior of the building with the laying of tile and the installation of millwork including moldings, casings, and doors. Materials continue to arrive on site.

Stone Cladding Progressing Up Concepción Temple Tower

The elegant tower of the Concepción Chile Temple is a model of geometric artistry with dome stacked upon octogons stacked upon squares. The recent addition of precast stone cladding to the octogonal portion of the tower only adds to its beauty. Cladding also continues on the east and west walls.

Decorative Fence Installation Begins in Concepción

Along the east side of the Concepción Chile Temple property, work has started on the ornamental fence that will surround the temple grounds. The majority of precast stone cladding has been attached to the exterior, and work progresses at various stages on the building's interior.

Two rows of stately palm trees leading to the main entrance of the Concepción Chile Temple now grace the grounds. Work continues at various stages inside and out. On the exterior, the concrete walls are being covered by an aqua vapor barrier, gray insulation, and white cladding.

A new series of photographs taken of the north side of the Concepción Chile Temple exhibits the beautiful architectural details incorporated in the precast stone cladding. Crews continue to attached cladding to the west and south sides of the temple where scaffolding is erected.

Cladding Visible on North Wall of Concepción Chile Temple

Scaffolding was removed yesterday from the north wall of the Concepción Chile Temple, revealing the beautifully detailed precast cladding being attached to the exterior walls. The white stone is a reflection of the temple's holy status as the House of the Lord.

The first façade panel for the tower of the Concepción Chile Temple was set in place this week. The glass fiber reinforced concrete is lightweight but durable, allowing for highly detailed ornamental concrete. Cladding of the north wall is nearly finished.

Stone cladding of the Concepción Chile Temple has turned a corner, as work has progressed from the north wall to the west. The temple's west side faces southern Concepción's major thoroughfare, allowing motorists to see the aqua vapor barrier turn to white precast stone.

Scaffolding stretches across the north wall of the Concepción Chile Temple as laborers attach pieces of precast stone to the exterior. The impressive structure looms over a city thoroughfare, drawing the attention of passing motorists. A vapor barrier is going up on the housing facility.

Construction Update on the Concepción Chile Temple

As exterior cladding continues on the north side of the Concepción Chile Temple, attachment of the waterproofing membrane has wrapped around the east (or front) side of the temple. On the west side of the building, early landscaping has begun with the planting of palm trees. And near the driveway entrance, concrete has been poured for the monument sign holder.

Work has begun on attaching precast concrete cladding to the exterior of the Concepción Chile Temple. Workers started along the base of the north wall where scaffolding has been erected. The first panels of precast stone are located just below the scaffolding plank.
