Temple Site
On December 16, 2024, the location of the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple was announced as a 1.56-acre site located at the intersection of Avenida Córdoba and Reconquista in the San Nicolás neighborhood of Downtown Buenos Aires.1
Temple Announcement
On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple at the October 2022 General Conference. Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city in Argentina. The Buenos Aires City Center Temple will be Argentina’s sixth temple. The Buenos Aires Argentina Temple was dedicated in 1986, while the Córdoba Argentina Temple was dedicated in 2015. Ground was broken for the Salta Argentina Temple and the Mendoza Argentina Temple in late 2020. Argentina is home to about 475,000 Latter-day Saints and 725 congregations in a country of more than 45 million residents.2

The Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple will be the tenth temple built in the same city as another operating temple, the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple (1986), making Buenos Aires, Argentina, the tenth city in the world to have more than one temple, following South Jordan, Utah; Provo, Utah; Lima, Peru; St. George, Utah; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Rexburg, Idaho; Santiago, Chile; Mexico City, Mexico; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Buenos Aires City Center Argentina Temple will be the seventh temple built outside of the United States in the same metropolitan area as another operating temple, making Greater Buenos Aires the seventh metropolitan area outside of the United States with more than one temple, following the Lima metropolitan area in Peru, the Greater Manila Area in the Philippines, the Guatemala City metropolitan area in Guatemala, Greater São Paulo in Brazil, the Santiago Metropolitan Region in Chile, and Greater Mexico City in Mexico.
