An official rendering of the Savai'i Samoa Temple has not yet been released to the public.
Temple Site
On March 11, 2024, the location of the Savai'i Samoa Temple was announced as a 5.5-acre site located next to the Don Bosco College and Vocational Technical Center at Lot 1098 to Lot 1105 in Fataloa, a subarea of Salelologa village on the southeast coast of Savai'i. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 29,630 square feet.1
Temple Announcement
On October 1, 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Savai'i Samoa Temple at the October 2023 General Conference. It will be the second house of the Lord built in Samoa. The Apia Samoa Temple was first dedicated in 1983. The temple was rebuilt after a fire in 2003 and rededicated in 2005. At the time of the announcement, more than 85,000 Latter-day Saints live in Samoa. The Pago Pago American Samoa Temple was under construction in neighboring American Samoa. The Honorable Fiame Naomi Mata'afa, Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, had visited Salt Lake City and met with The First Presidency in late September 2023.2
