Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Our loving Father in Heaven, we come unto Thee in solemn and reverent prayer in the name of Thy Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to dedicate this beautiful edifice.

Acting in authority of the holy Melchizedek Priesthood and by assignment from President Dallin Harris Oaks who holds and exercises all priesthood keys at this time, we dedicate and consecrate unto Thee this sacred structure, the Montpelier Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We dedicate it unto Thee for Thy sacred purpose, as a house of holy ordinances where Thine eternal work may be carried forward. We ask that Thou wilt accept it as a gift of love for Thee and Thy Son.

We rejoice and humbly bow our heads before Thee with gratitude in our hearts. We thank Thee for the gift of Thy Beloved Son. We thank Thee for Thy Son’s sacrifice as our Savior and Redeemer. We express our love for Thee and for Him.

We thank Thee for the Restoration the of gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith, and for all who have succeeded him. We thank Thee for a prophet on the earth today, even President Dallin H. Oaks, to lead and guide us.

We express gratitude for the resources necessary to construct this house of the Lord. We pray for those who have contributed their time and talents to create and beautify this sacred space. We pray that this temple will be protected from the forces of nature or other destructive events.

May this holy house truly be a place of worship, a place of peace, order and love. May it be ever sacred to those who look upon it.

We ask a blessing on the temple presidency, the matron and her assistants, the ordinance workers, and patrons. We ask Thee to bless all those who shall enter upon the threshold of this temple with love and kindness, that their hearts may be filled with faith, courage and charity.

We ask Thee to bless them that as they visit Thy holy house, that their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will increase, and that the Spirit will fill them with a desire to honor Him.

We pray for all missionaries who go out from this temple, that they will have an endowment of power to preach and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please bless them that the Holy Ghost may be their companion, and that they may have the strength to resist the temptations and worldly lure of Lucifer. We pray that no power of opposition will succeed against Thy hand.

We especially ask for a blessing for the children and youth in a world that is increasingly unworthy. As they turn their hearts to Thee, may they also turn their hearts to their family members, past and present. May they participate with faith, and may they depart with a feeling of peace – praising Thy holy name.

Father, it is our prayer that Thou wilt accept our offering, which we offer in humility, reverence and love. We honor Thy holy name and that of Thy Son. Please accept our thanks as we consecrate this hallowed structure, we humbly ask in the sacred name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.
