Preliminary Site Preparations for the Missoula Montana Temple

Preparatory work is underway at the Missoula Montana Temple site ahead of next month’s groundbreaking ceremony. The property has been fenced off, and heavy equipment is actively clearing and grading the land in preparation for construction. Recent rainfall and low clouds over the surrounding mountains created a dramatic backdrop as crews continued earthmoving operations across the property for the future temple.

Groundbreaking Date Announced for the Missoula Montana Temple

Elder José A. Teixeira, United States Central Area President, will preside at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Missoula Montana Temple on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The temple will rise on a 5.08-acre site located at the intersection of Old Bitterroot Road and Lower Miller Creek Road in Missoula. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 19,000 square feet with an accompanying ancillary building.

Exterior Rendering Released for the Missoula Montana Temple

An artistic rendering of the Missoula Montana Temple was released today, revealing the proposed exterior appearance of the building. The temple site is a 5.08-acre property located at the intersection of Old Bitterroot Road and Lower Miller Creek Road in Missoula. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 19,000 square feet with an accompanying ancillary building. It will be the third temple constructed in the state.

Missoula Montana Temple Site Location Revealed

The site location for the Missoula Montana Temple has been revealed as a 5.08-acre site located at the corner of Old Bitterroot Road and Lower Miller Creek Road on the southern side of Missoula. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 19,000 square feet with an accompanying ancillary building. It will be the third temple built in Montana. Detailed design plans continue. No rendering has been released, and no groundbreaking date has been scheduled.
