Jordan River Utah Temple Open House Tickets
Free tickets to tour the interior of the newly renovated Jordan River Utah Temple will be made available via an online reservation system beginning Monday, February 12, at 10:00 a.m. MT. The six-week open house runs from March 17 through April 28, 2018.
20th Operating Temple of the Church to Be Rededicated in the Spring
The next temple to be rededicated will be the Jordan River Utah Temple, which was dedicated in 1981 as the 20th operating temple of the Church. At the unconventional groundbreaking ceremony for the temple, President Spencer W. Kimball delivered his address, offered the site dedicatory prayer, and then mounted a huge Caterpillar tractor. He put into action his admonishment to "lengthen our stride" by operating the equipment to move a giant shovelful of dirt.
Scaffolding Surrounds Jordan River Utah Temple Spire
Saints in the Salt Lake Valley are looking forward to the reopening of the Jordan River Utah Temple in the spring. It closed for renovation on February 15, 2016, and will be rededicated on May 20, 2018. Scaffolding currently surrounds the spire as exterior renovation work continues.
Rededication Announced for the Jordan River Utah Temple
The First Presidency of the Church has announced that a public open house will be held for the newly renovated Jordan River Utah Temple from Saturday, March 17, through Saturday, April 28, 2018. The temple will be rededicated on Sunday, May 20, 2018, in three sessions.

Jordan River Utah Temple Spire Lights Extinguished
It is an odd sight for residents of South Salt Lake Valley to see the familiar nighttime lighting of the Jordan River Utah Temple spire turned off as renovation activities proceed on the 35-year-old building. Patrons are attending other temples in the valley during the two-year closure.

The southeast gate at the Jordan River Utah Temple has now closed to the public. The Distribution Center remains open but must be accessed via the west gate off Redwood.
Jordan River Utah Temple Closed for Renovation
The Jordan River Utah Temple has now closed for renovation, which will continue into the latter part of next year. The project includes seismic upgrades and remodeling of the Celestial Room, bride's room, initiatory areas, and baptistry.
Jordan River Utah Temple Preparing to Close for Renovation in Two Weeks
Construction trailers from Westland Construction are already arriving at the Jordan River Utah Temple, which is scheduled to close for an extensive renovation of the interior in two weeks. The temple was dedicated 35 years ago in 1981. During the renovation, the temple will be upgraded, reinforced, and beautified—following the conventions of newly constructed temples including the addition of a separate entrance for the baptistry.

The First Presidency has announced the closure of the Jordan River Utah Temple in the Salt Lake Valley. The temple will be closed from February 15, 2016 through the latter part of 2017 to undergo extensive renovation. Following the renovation, the temple will be rededicated.
