Freshening Up the Bountiful Utah Temple

The ornate moldings around the windows and inscription stones on the exterior of the Bountiful Utah Temple are being painted as part of a maintenance project. Contractors are also working on the roof, turning the beige-colored surface a brilliant white. Blue tarps were lifted up to protect rooftop equipment. Last year, the stairs and landscaping on the east side of the temple were renovated.

New Water Feature Completed at Bountiful Utah Temple

The grounds renovation on the east side of the Bountiful Utah Temple has been completed with a new semicircular gathering area, anchored by a stone-clad water feature and surrounded by freshly planted gardens in dark mulch. A new staircase below the east exit doors was also created as part of the project.

New Staircase Uncovered at the Bountiful Utah Temple

The grounds renovation continues on the east side of the Bountiful Utah Temple where the newly formed stairs and landscape walls are visible. Trees stand on a nearby mound of dirt ready for planting when the time arrives. The temple was dedicated almost 25 years ago on January 8, 1995.

Grounds Renovation at the Bountiful Utah Temple

A renovation project is underway on the grounds of the Bountiful Utah Temple, which is currently closed for two weeks of maintenance. The work is taking place on the east side of the temple where beautiful stairs, a cascading water feature, and a circular flowerbed were located.

Scaffolding Removed from Bountiful Utah Temple Spire

The steeple of the Bountiful Utah Temple is fully visible again, now that the scaffolding that has surrounded the structure since springtime has been removed. In this photograph, a low-lying inversion can been seen to the left of the temple.

Art glass has returned to the steeple of the Bountiful Utah Temple, and scaffolding is coming down following a lengthy renovation project.

Angel Moroni Makes His Landing Atop Bountiful Temple

Following months of renovation to the spire of the Bountiful Utah Temple, the gold-leafed angel Moroni statue has returned to his place atop the sacred structure. The renovation helped to correct an airflow problem. View a photograph series of the installation of the spire and Moroni.

Golden Hour at the Bountiful Utah Temple

A new photograph of the Bountiful Utah Temple captures the building just before sunset during the golden hour. Scaffolding will remain on top of the building through the summer as a moisture problem with the spire is rectified. The temple is the 47th operating temple of the Church.

Spire Repairs Continue at the Bountiful Utah Temple

Instead of a Moroni-capped spire, its a stack of scaffolding being lit at night atop the Bountiful Utah Temple as repairs to the spire continue through the summer. Work includes the removal of rust from the metal framing and the improvement of airflow to prevent future moisture problems.

Bountiful Utah Temple Spire Dismantled

Rows of scaffolding have replaced the familiar sight of a granite-faced spire and heralding angel Moroni that have topped the Bountiful Utah Temple for over twenty years. The spire has been stripped to the steel framework for repairs that are expected to last through the summer.

Lightning-Damaged Angel Moroni Replaced

A new angel Moroni statue, originally intended for the Meridian Idaho Temple, was set in place atop the Bountiful Utah Temple yesterday, replacing the previous Moroni that was irreparably damaged by a lighting strike on May 22, removing chunks of fiberglass from the face and back.

Angel Moroni Saves Bountiful Utah Temple

During an intense thunderstorm on Sunday, May 22, the angel Moroni was struck atop the Bountiful Utah Temple, leaving gaping holes in the back and head. The statues are purposely designed as lightning rods to spare other parts of the building.

Layton Stakes Transferred to Bountiful Utah Temple District

Announcements were made on Sunday to Layton congregations that the city's 13 stakes would belong to the Bountiful Utah Temple District, which now covers 49 stakes. Layton had formerly belonged to the Ogden Utah Temple District, which now covers 63 stakes.
