Groundbreaking Date Announced for the Barcelona Spain Temple

Elder James W. McConkie III of the Europe Central Area Presidency will preside at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Barcelona Spain Temple on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The country's second temple will rise on a 5.4-acre site at the intersection of Avinguda de la Vía Augusta and Avinguda de la Clota in the suburb of Sant Cugat del Vallès. Plans call for a two-story temple and an ancillary building with patron housing, an arrival center, and a distribution center.

Exterior Rendering Released for the Barcelona Spain Temple

An exterior rendering of the Barcelona Spain Temple has been released. The two-story, 27,500-square-foot building will be constructed on a 5.4-acre site at the intersection of Avinguda de la Vía Augusta and Avinguda de la Clota in Sant Cugat del Vallès, a suburb north of Barcelona. Plans also call for a 13,600-square-foot ancillary building housing a patron arrival center, patron accommodations, and a distribution center.

Location Announced for the Barcelona Spain Temple

The location of the Barcelona Spain Temple has been announced as a 5.4-acre site at the intersection of Avinguda de la Vía Augusta and Avinguda de la Clota in Sant Cugat del Vallès, just north of Barcelona. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 27,500 square feet. An ancillary building of approximately 13,600 square feet with patron housing, an arrival center, and a distribution center will also be built on site. Detailed plans are still under development and no groundbreaking date has been announced.
