Stockholm Sweden Temple in Early Phases of Reconstruction
Reconstruction of the Stockholm Sweden Temple is in the early stages. The former building was demolished in February, and site work for the new temple began shortly afterward. Although the exterior will look very much like the original, the new temple has been designed with numerous structural improvements and a redesigned interior that spans two levels instead of one. A variety of heavy equipment is on site.
Preparing to Reconstruct the Stockholm Sweden Temple
Protective wood slats have been placed around the trunks of mature trees near the construction entrance to the Stockholm Sweden Temple site. The old building was razed earlier this year, and preparations are being made for constructing the replacement building. The exterior of the new temple will be very similar to the original, but the interior will be divided into two levels to increase the overall square footage.
Demolition Activity Underway at the Stockholm Sweden Temple
Demolition of the Stockholm Sweden Temple has begun, which will be reconstructed and expanded to serve the members of the temple district. The temple closed at the conclusion of ordinance work on Saturday, March 25, 2023. The temple will nearly double in size from 16,366 square feet to some 31,000 square feet. It will feature two instruction rooms for presentation of the endowment with 40 seats each. Construction is anticipated to last approximately three years.

The Stockholm Sweden Temple closed at the end of March ahead of a major renovation that was announced in September. The temple will be reconstructed and expanded, growing in size from 16,366 square feet to approximately 31,000 square feet, featuring two instruction rooms for presentation of the endowment with 40 seats each. Construction is anticipated to last for roughly three years.
Extensive Renovation Announced for the Stockholm Sweden Temple
The Stockholm Sweden Temple will close next year for major renovations that are anticipated to last approximately three years. The temple will nearly double in size from 16,366 square feet to around 31,000 square feet. It will feature two instruction rooms for presentation of the endowment with 40 seats each. Following reconstruction of the interior, the public will be invited to tour the temple during an open house, and it will be rededicated.
