A Temple Construction Boom in the Country of Mexico

The rising San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple, pictured here, is one of a dozen temples being constructed or in planning for Mexico. The country's first house of the Lord, the Mexico City Mexico Temple, was dedicated in 1983 and remained the only temple in Mexico for 16 years. During 1999–2002, 11 new temples were added across the country under President Hinckley's administration. Mexico's 13th temple came 13 years later in 2015. Once all of the temples announced for Mexico have been constructed, that number will double to 26. The 14th was recently dedicated in Puebla.
