Temple Announcement
On October 1, 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Roanoke Virginia Temple at the October 2023 General Conference. It will be the third temple in the state. The Richmond Virginia Temple was dedicated on May 7, 2023, by President Dallin H. Oaks of the First Presidency. And plans for the Winchester Virginia Temple were announced on April 2, 2023. Roanoke is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia in the eastern United States. At the time of the temple announcement, there were more than 97,000 Latter-day Saints in over 210 congregations in the state.1
