Temple Announcement

On April 6, 2025, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Porto Portugal Temple at the 195th Annual General Conference. Porto, with a population of approximately 1.3 million, is the second-largest city in Portugal, a nation home to nearly 48,000 Latter-day Saints in more than 60 congregations. The temple will be the second in the country, joining the Lisbon Portugal Temple. The first branch was organized in Lisbon in 1975. That same year, then-Elder Thomas S. Monson dedicated the country for the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ.1
