Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for the Lagos Nigeria Temple

Elder Alfred Kyungu, President of the Africa West Area Presidency, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lagos Nigeria Temple on Saturday, May 10, 2025. "The temple is a sacred place where members are going to perform sacred ordinances and make covenants," he said. Dignitaries were in attendance including Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Christian Religion, Very Rev. Bukola Adeleke. He said, "This foundation is built on solid rock, and we believe God will see it through to completion. The Church has been a vessel for spreading the Gospel and winning souls, and we encourage them to continue in this divine mission."

Groundbreaking Announced for the Lagos Nigeria Temple

Elder Alfred Kyungu, Africa West Area President, will preside at the groundbreaking services for the Lagos Nigeria Temple on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The temple will be constructed on a 2.7-acre site located at Rumens Road and Bourdillon Road in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos. Plans call for a single-level temple of approximately 19,800 square feet. An arrival center and patron housing will also be constructed on the site.

Location of the Lagos Nigeria Temple Site Revealed

The location for the Lagos Nigeria Temple has been announced by the First Presidency as a 2.7-acre site located at the intersection of Rumens Road and Bourdillon Road in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 19,800 square feet. An arrival center and patron housing will also be constructed on the site. No rendering or groundbreaking date have been released.
