Ceremonial Shovels Turn Soil for the João Pessoa Brazil Temple

Ground was broken for the first house of the Lord in the state of Paraíba on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Elder Joni L. Koch, Brazil Area President, presided at the service for the João Pessoa Brazil Temple with Church members, religious leaders, civic authorities, and other guests in attendance. "May the beginning of this work inspire us all to rededicate our lives to You and Your Beloved Son," said Elder Koch.

Elder Joni L. Koch, Brazil Area President, will president at the groundbreaking ceremony for the João Pessoa Brazil Temple on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The temple will rise on a 3.9-acre property located at the intersection of Rua Paulino Pinto and Avenida Ministro José Américo de Almeida in the Cabo Branco neighborhood of João Pessoa. Plans call for a temple of approximately 18,850 square feet.

Artistic Rendering Released for the João Pessoa Brazil Temple

The official artistic rendering for the João Pessoa Brazil Temple was released on Monday, July 8, 2024. The temple will rise on a 3.9-acre site located at the intersection of Rua Paulino Pinto and Avenida Ministro José Américo de Almeida in the Cabo Branco neighborhood of João Pessoa. Plans call for a temple of approximately 18,850 square feet. A groundbreaking date will be announced when the time for construction draws near.

João Pessoa Brazil Temple Site Location Announced

The location of the João Pessoa Brazil Temple was announced today. The 18,850-square-foot temple will be constructed on a 3.9-acre site located at the intersection of Rua Paulino Pinto and Avenida Ministro José Américo de Almeida in the Cabo Branco neighborhood of João Pessoa—a port city located about 75 miles north of Recife. No exterior rendering has been released, and no groundbreaking date has been announced.
