The Huntsville Alabama Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.
Temple Rendering
On April 22, 2025, the official exterior rendering for the Huntsville Alabama Temple was released to the public.1
Temple Site
On January 21, 2025, the location of the Huntsville Alabama Temple was announced as a 21-acre property located southeast of the intersection of Gillespie Road and Browns Ferry Road in Madison, Alabama. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet.2
Temple Announcement
On October 6, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Huntsville Alabama Temple at the 194th Semiannual General Conference. Huntsville, located in the Appalachian region of northern Alabama, is the most populated city in the state with more than 225,000 residents. The temple will be the second in the state, joining the Birmingham Alabama Temple. Alabama has over 40,000 members in about 75 congregations.3
