Groundbreaking Date Announced for the Wellington New Zealand Temple
Elder Taniela B. Wakolo, First Counselor in the Pacific Area Presidency, will preside at the groundbreaking event for the Wellington New Zealand Temple on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The temple will be constructed on a 3.35-acre site located near Okowai Road and Whitford Brown Avenue in the Aotea neighborhood of Porirua. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 14,900 square feet and an ancillary building with arrival facilities and patron housing.
Exterior Rendering Released for the Wellington New Zealand Temple
The official exterior rendering for the Wellington New Zealand Temple has been published. The two-story structure will be approximately 14,900 square feet with an accompanying ancillary building, housing arrival facilities and patron housing. The temple will rise on a 3.35-acre property in the Aotea neighborhood of Porirua, a suburb of Wellington. Plans to construct the temple were announced in April 2022.
Location of the Wellington New Zealand Temple Announced
A tree-covered 3.35-acre property in the Aotea neighborhood of Porirua, New Zealand, has been announced as the location of the future Wellington New Zealand Temple. The project includes a two-story temple of 14,900 square feet and an ancillary building with arrival and patron housing facilities. A rendering of the temple and a groundbreaking date will be released once final design plans have been completed and approved. It is the third temple to be constructed in New Zealand, joining the recently rededicated Hamilton New Zealand Temple and the Auckland New Zealand Temple that is currently under construction.
