Groundbreaking Event Held for the Tacloban City Philippines Temple

Elder Michael B. Strong, Second Counselor in the Philippines Area Presidency, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tacloban City Philippines Temple on Saturday, January 18, 2025. In his remarks, Elder Strong noted the baptism of George Pamin—the first member of the Church in Tacloban—which occurred exactly 56 years earlier. Other speakers included a youth representative, a young single adult, and a local pioneer who shared inspiring messages. The temple will be constructed on a beautiful 6.99-acre site along Tacloban Bypass Road.

Exterior Rendering Released for the Tacloban City Philippines Temple

The official exterior rendering for the Tacloban City Philippines Temple has been published. The two-story temple will be approximately 21,407 square feet with a steeple over the main entrance. The groundbreaking has been announced for Saturday, January 18, 2025. Elder Michael B. Strong, Second Counselor in the Philippines Area Presidency, will preside.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Tacloban City Philippines Temple will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Elder Michael B. Strong, Second Counselor in the Philippines Area Presidency, will preside. The temple will be constructed on a 6.99-acre site located on Tacloban Bypass Road in the Utap-Caibaan neighborhood of Tacloban City. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 21,407 square feet.

Site Location of the Tacloban City Philippines Temple Announced

The site for the Tacloban City Philippines Temple has been announced as a 6.99-acre property located on Tacloban Bypass Road in Barangay Utap-Caibaan on the western side of Tacloban City. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 21,407 square feet. Tacloban is located on Leyte Island in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. Plans to construct the temple were announced at the October 2021 general conference.
