Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple
Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, General Authority Seventy and president of the Central America Area, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple on Saturday, March 14, 2026. "Every time we enter the temple," he said, "we reaffirm that we want to follow the Savior and remain on the covenant path." The groundbreaking occurred 17 years to the day of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple.
Groundbreaking Date Announced for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple
Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, Central America Area President, will preside at the groundbreaking services for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The temple will rise on property located across from the Barrio Sión meetinghouse at 18 Avenida, Zona 4, El Terrero in Huehuetenango. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 10,787 square feet.
Artist's Rendering Revealed for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple
An artist's rendering of the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple has been released to the public. Plans to construct the temple were announced by President Russell M. Nelson at the October 2022 general conference. The location of the property was announced in March 2023. The temple will be constructed across from the Barrio Sión (Zion Ward) meetinghouse at 18 Avenida, Zona 4, El Terrero in Huehuetenango. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 10,787 square feet.
Location Announced for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple
The site for the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple has been announced as a long, narrow parcel located across from the Barrio Sión (Zion Ward) meetinghouse at 18 Avenida, Zona 4, El Terrero in Huehuetenango. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 10,787 square feet. It will be the fifth temple constructed in Guatemala.
