Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

A change has been announced for the location of the Charlotte North Carolina Temple. This house of the Lord will now be built on approximately 7.7 acres located at 5926 Mathews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,700 square feet. It will be the second temple in the state, joining the Raleigh North Carolina Temple.

The former residence that stood on the Charlotte North Carolina Temple site has been demolished. The 5.9-acre Weddington property, located south of Charlotte, was announced on May 30. The temple will be approximately 30,000 square feet. No exterior rendering has been released, and no groundbreaking date has been set.

Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. Plans to construct the temple were announced by President Russell M. Nelson less than two months ago at the April 2023 General Conference. An exterior rendering and groundbreaking date will be released later.
