Groundbreaking Ceremony

Elder Thierry K. Mutombo, Africa Central Area President, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Brazzaville Republic of the Congo Temple on Saturday, August 23, 2025. "... I testify to you, my brothers and sisters, that something special happens when the house of the Lord is built in a place," he said. "The powers of heaven are manifested in the sacred ordinances performed in the temple, and the Republic of Congo will never be the same again, because everywhere temples are built, the influence of the devil diminishes and the light of Christ is elevated."1

Temple Rendering

On July 28, 2025, the official exterior rendering of the Brazzaville Republic of the Congo Temple was released to the public.

Temple Site

On July 28, 2025, the location of the Brazzaville Republic of the Congo Temple was announced as a 1.5-acre site located on Avenue de la Republique (formerly 103 and 109 Rue Lamonthé) in the Bacongo neighborhood of Brazzaville. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 10,000 square feet. Patron housing and arrival facilities will also be constructed.2

Temple Announcement

On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Brazzaville Republic of the Congo Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. Brazzaville is the capital and largest city in the Republic of the Congo. This will be the nation's first temple. The Republic of the Congo has over 8,000 members in 29 congregations. The Church has been present in the country since 1990. The temple there will make access to the house of the Lord much easier for members of this central African nation. The Church is growing rapidly in the entire region. There are three temples in the neighboring country of the Democratic Republic of Congo.3
